This project has been set up to find out relationships between different Briese families using Y-DNA. The surname Briese originated in Germany, but people with this name have emigrated to Australia, North America and South America. Participants with the surname Briese are sought for this project. Already, we have been able to show that some Briese families in different parts of the world are related, despite there being no paper records. There have been known name changes from Briese to Brese (Volhynia - Canada) and Briesen (in Prussia), Brise, Breise and Breece (in USA) and Bryze, Bryza (Poland). People with this surname may possibly originate from the Briese surname and are invited to join the project as well.
