This project was initiated on August 12, 2009 in order to provide a location for recording and matching Y-DNA results for individuals researching the BISSET / BISSETT surname.

As of 2016 we have at least 8 distinct lineages with surname variations. Any male with a Bisset(t) surname or a similar variation is strongly encouraged to join the group. In some cases a 12 marker STR test and then a single SNP test will be enough to associate you with one of our existing project families.
