Considerable research has been done on the famiy tree of John and Margaret Gordon Dalrymple who emigrated with their 8 children in 1775 from Wigtownshire, Scotland to North Carolina. Family on the Scotland side have been researched back to 1684. Others have emigrated to Canada and Australia from this same family group.
In the process of this research other Dalrymple families have been found both in the U.S. and in Scotland. Questions have arisen relative to if or how these families are related.
