Spellings are numerous and include McGaughey, McGaha, McGaughy, McGahey, McGahhey, Magaha, McGaghy, McGaughie, McGhghy, McGahan, MacGahey, MacGahy, MacGaughey, MacGaughy, MacGaggy, MacGaughie, McGaffey, McGaffee, McGathey, Gahey, Gaffey, Gaughy. We also have McGeachie, McKechney, McCaughrean, McGann, McGatha, and more.

The most recent Y-DNA Results for the project can be found by clicking on the Y-DNA Results tab. If you would like to know whether your family line is represented in the Y-DNA project, please contact one of the volunteer administrators.
Women cannot take the Y-DNA test because they do not have the Y chromosome that men do. If you are from a female line, you can help by recruiting a male McGaughey/McGaha relative.
The McGaughey/McGaha Y-DNA study is run by volunteers and supported by descendants who are interested in the role of Y-DNA in identifying and connecting different family branches. Donations to the study are welcomed and 100% of donated funds go for test sponsorships.

Our study tracks Y-DNA results for males of the McGaughey/McGaha lines.
We also encourage all male participants to take the FamilyFinder test to augment the Y-DNA results. Women can also participate in the research with their own FamilyFinder results, as can men who are not in the surname line. FamilyFinder results are not posted or tracked; however, participants can filter their own matches for project participants.
