About us
The purpose of this project is to determine the extent of the Old Baltic Tribes, Old Prussian, Yatavigian (Sudovian) Diaspora after the invasion of the Teutonic Knights in the 13th century. During the 13th century, indigenous Baltic tribes were systematically and brutally attacked and eventually conquered by marauding Teutonic knights under the guise of spreading Christianity. Some Old Prussian peoples remained in their ancestral homelands as landless serfs. Others found refuge and asylum in the Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Over the centuries, these Baltic Peoples eventually assimilated with their neighbors, loosing their languages, customs and history. The goal of this project to is to re-discover the Baltic roots of modern day peoples through Y DNA and Mt DNA analysis of people who trace their ancestry to the Warmia, Mazury and Suwalki regions of Poland, and the Kaliningrad area of Russia, and Dzukija region of Lithuania, Poland and Belarus, thus attempting to unravel the forgotten history of these Baltic tribes'.
