About us

About the R1b1a2 haplogroup (previously known as R1b1b2):

According to some hypotheses, haplogroups R1b1a2a1a1a (U106+) and R1b1a2a1a1b (P312+) would have spread through Europe from the Iberian Peninsula in the same migratory movement that carried the Beaker culture to the four corners of the continent, between 4,000 and 4,800 years ago. Sub-clade R1b1a2a1a1b4 (L21+) would have originated shortly afterwards. This project will analyze all individuals belonging to haplogroup R1b1a2 (including R1b1a2a1a1a, R1b1a2a1a1b and R1b1a2a1a1b4) who have genealogical origins in the Iberian Peninsula.
