About us

American Craddocks hit a brick wall when trying to trace and document their pre-1750 Craddock ancestors. Who was the father of William Craddock (d. 1795 in Nottoway Co., VA)? Was it Samuel or was it Robert? Is there a connection with the Appalachia Craddocks? Who was the Craddock immigrant and where in the British Isles did he come from?

The goals of the Craddock Family Surname Project are:

1) To identify and understand the early Craddock male lines in America, with special attention to Virginia, Kentucky, the Carolinas, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas;

2) To compare our genealogies and documents and, through DNA testing, work to identify the first Craddock ancestors in America;

3) To determine the places of origin of Craddock immigrants; and

4) To help Craddocks worldwide understand our shared family heritage.

The Craddock Family Project is open to all who are interested in working together to achieve these goals through the sharing of genealogical information and DNA testing. As this is a surname project, participants must be male with the last name Craddock. All surname variants are welcomed.
