The HART DNA Surname Project was started because we had exhausted our traditional methods of genealogy research. We needed a new tool to help us get through the brick walls. After doing some research at Family Tree DNA, it was clear that DNA was the tool we needed. We needed to contact the various Hart genealogy groups and recruit individuals to participate in our project. We found that we can compare the DNA of individuals to see if they are related. Thus, two participants from different Hart genealogy groups could take the DNA test to find out if their groups are related.
