The Stidham (Steadham) Family DNA Study began back in the Fall of 2000. It was among the first Surname Projects conducted at Family Tree DNA, preceeded only by the Mumma Surname Project (Facts & Genes From Family Tree DNA, June 2, 2003, Volume 2, Issue 5). In 2004, the Stedman surname (all variations) was added to the project, as the Stidham and Stedman surnames had become interchangeable for many families throughout the years.
