About us
This Project is founded on the idea to find out how different Gevert families
bind together by Y-DNA results. This should reveal haplogroups that can
help to find out how the genealogical father lines have evolved earlier in history.
Gevert name in variations has spread out from Central Europe. In Sweden
the name is quite common. Lot of people might want to know about
their fathers origin. As an example the two families in Finland have
different origins even both of them are believed to be descendants of
Anders/Andreas Gevert b. ca. 1580.
In Flemish giver is gever. In southern dialect it has the form gevert.
The name is at least of medieval original. Probably as first name like it
exists even now. Then as a patronymic there was an s or z at the end.
Later these letters often were left out.
