Philip Hunton, the immigrant ancestor, b. abt. 1664 married Betsy Hall, of Exeter, New Hampshire. His second wife was Hannah died Dec. 22, 1741. He came to this country as a boy. (Source Philip Huntoon and his descendants, author Daniel T. V. Huntoon, Canton, June 1, 1881) The name Huntoon appeared in New Hampshire, Colonial British America shortly after his arrival. Some Huntoons changed their name to Huntone. Philip Hunton's paternal ancestry came from England or France according to stories handed down over time.
