The Kendall DNA Project is part of the larger Kendall One-Name Study. The Kendall One-Name study collects and researches all Kendall (and related spellings) occurrences and families. We currently have a Facebook group: The Kendall Surname Study. The Kendall DNA Project consists in two parts: the Y-DNA study and the autosomal DNA (atDNA) study.
First and foremost the Kendall DNA Project is a surname specific Y-DNA study. Y-DNA testing and analysis will have priority. The Y-chromosome only exists in the male population. It is passed from fathers to their sons. Ladies are extremely important to our studies. They can take the Family Finder test and locate male relatives to participate in the Kendall Y-DNA Study.
To be INCLUDED in the Y-DNA study you MUST:
1) be genetically male,
2) bear the Kendall surname (or a variation of it)
3) take a minimum Y-DNA 37 test. (the Big Y-700 DNA test is STRONGLY recommended).
4) upload a family tree to your account
5) set group permissions to advanced
You may be included if you have a Y-DNA37 match to an existing project member and meet all the above conditions.
The Kendall atDNA Project is open to Kendall descendants who have taken a Family Finder test (or a third party test uploaded to FTDNA).
To be INCLUDED in the atDNA study you MUST:
1) take a Family Finder (autosomal) test
2) provide proof of your Kendall relationship and/or be a genetic match to an existing project member
3) upload a family tree to your account
4) set group permissions to advanced
You may be included with special conditions and administration approval. The requested conditions makes it easier for group administrators to help members and determine genetic matches. The more information shared the more we can learn.
