About us
This project focuses on the Anabaptist families who fled Switzerland in the early 16th and 17th centuries. Many later moved to other areas of north-central Europe such as the Alsace-Lorraine region of France and the Palatinate of Germany, forming other groups before emigrating to the United States. The aim of the project is to explore the early origins of these families and connections between them.
We welcome all patrilineal and matrilineal descendants of these families, whether Amish, Amish-Mennonite, Mennonite, Conservative Mennonite, Dunkard or Brethren. Please note that membership is limited only to patrilineal and matrilineal descendants, since it is these descendants who carry y-DNA and mt-DNA reflecting their Swiss Anabaptist ancestry.
To join the project, you must have submitted a y-DNA or mt-DNA test through FTDNA, and you must be able to provide reasonable and credible evidence (such as paper trails) of descent from any of these Anabaptist groups. If you lack conclusive evidence but strongly suspect such connections, please contact the administrators.
