N18008 (B-13) - Haplogroup E, Unknown Earliest Ancestor. There are no matches for either the Black surname, or any other Surnames for this haplotype. Recent Ancestral Origins for B-13 are identified as Haiti, Jamaica, and Senegal and Ivory Coast, possibly identifying the African origin locations of ancestors of New World slave descendants.

There are no Black surname matches for this haplotype, but there are many 12/12 matches. An upgrade would help identify family members in a more recent time frame. The surname matches do give an indication of the lineages origin, as many are Scandinavia Names, indicating possible Viking origins. Exact 12/12 Recent Ancestral Origins include Norway, Sweden and England.
41670 (B-10) - Haplogroup I, Earliest Known Ancestor is John Black, born 1830 in Donegal County, Ireland. There are no Black surnames matches for B-10, though there are many matches of 23/25 quality, but no common surname. Two Step mutations of 25 marker test have identified Recent Ancestral origins of England, Ireland and Denmark. This haplotype appears to be an example of Viking migrations to Ireland.
18549 (B-17) - Haplogroup I, Earliest Known Ancestor originated in German. There is no Black surname matches for this Haplotype, and no Surname matches beyond one 12/12 match of a differing surname. Recent Ancestral Origins of 10 or 11/12 quality include England, Germany, France, Wales and Netherlands. This pattern can indicate a Norsemen migration at the Age of Migrations origin.

There are no Black surname matches, but several matches with possible French surnames, though an expended DNA test would determine if there actually is a recent family relation. Whether the common ancestor is since the advent of surnames requires more markers to be compared. Most Recent Ancestral Origins are identified as England, Scotland, Ireland and Germany.

Genetically, all six members are from Haplogroup R-P312 which is the descendant of the major R-P25 (aka R-M343) lineage and is the most common in Central Europe, Spain, France, Portugal, and the British Isles.

All three members of this group (514634, 837075, 266688) are descendants of William Black (b. ca 1770 in Maryland, d. ca 1860 in Ashland County, Ohio). William was married to Sarah Stevens also of Maryland. William's grandson, William Morley Black (1826-1915) was an early Mormon convert and he raised his family in Utah. William Morley Black married six wives and had a total of 40 children. He left a large posterity and most of his descendants still reside in the Mountain West region of the United States.

B-26 shares a common ancestor with B-1, but it remains a mystery whether it a recent ancestor, since c1100, before Surname usage. Since this individual is a WAMH, he shares 12/12 with many differing surnames, originating from across Europe.

B-21 matches with B-24, with 12/12 matches, meaning that they have a 70% chance of sharing a common ancestor within 12 generation. With a larger marker sample size, more specific times can be estimated. Also, with only 12 markers sampled, there are several matches with other surnames, these maybe random matches, though one interesting surname, Blakiston, is a possible variant of BLACK.
