This project is to trace the ancestry of people with the Brophy surname or any of its variants including O'Brophy, O'Broithe, Brofey, Broffey, Broffee, Brofy, Brohy, Brophey, and Broy or any other reasonable spelling variations or aliases. The project is focused on y-DNA which is only carried by males and passed down the paternal line - father to son - making it uniquely suited to tracing Irish surnames which follow the same inheritance. Female members will need to find a male relative with the same surname to get tested to benefit from this project.
