While Harley Dakin (and others) created the Cline Surname Project in 2012 with the narrow goal of determining the relationships among male descendants of Pieter Klein, this surname project is now open to ALL those with a believed genetic relationship to a Cline. And while this is primarily a Y-DNA site, those who have mtDNA and/or autosomal DNA testing with believed genetic ties to a Cline are also welcome! Regarding Pieter Klein and the project's original aims: Pieter was born in Alsace/Lorraine region of Prussia [currently a region of France] in 1575. Pieter's descendants came to the US and settled in PA and NC before westward migration. Today, Pieter's descendants in the United States are predominately located in PA, OH, WV and NC. This early work on this surname group succeeded wonderfully. Harley and others have since passed away, but my fervent hope is this project can serve the widest numbers possible. Cheers, Matt Cline
