About us
Isle of Jura Y-DNA Project is primarily for men who have paternal ancestry from the Isle of Jura, Scotland. Women who have maternal ancestry from the Island may also join the project.
The aims of the project are:
- to help individuals connect with their Y-chromosome genetic cousins
- identify shared kinship between surnames on the Island
- explore the deeper Y-DNA origins of each surname represented on the island
- share genealogical and historical information
Note: the project is not focusing on results from mtDNA testing (maternal line) or Family Finder test results (autosomal DNA).
Membership:
Please provide information when joining of your most distant known paternal ancestor - name, date and place.
Please also provide your connection on this line to the Isle of Jura or neighbouring islands in the Inner Hebrides/ Argyllshire.
