About us
As at 18th March 2008 there is now Y DNA allele data on 91 members of this project. The group continues to grow with normally several kits undergoing testing at any one time. Majority of test results belong to Haplogroups R1b (69 members) and I (16 members) and their subgroups. R1b probably indicating ancient British ancestry and I Eastern Europe/Scandinavian (possibly Viking) ancestry. Our results for R1b are problematic in regard that being a common haplogroup among Western European populations. It is apparant that base 12 marker test is insufficient in a lot of cases to ascertain relationships between R1b haplogroup members. Accordingly it is recommended that if funds permit, new members take up 25 marker test wherever possible.
