Etelä-Pohjanmaa DNA projekti on maantieteellinen DNA-projekti. Projekti keskittyy Etelä-Pohjanmaan ja sen lähialueiden geneettisiin isä- ja äitilinjoihin. Etelä-Pohjanmaa DNA-projekti tutkii DNA-testien tulosten ja perinteisen sukututkimuksen avulla alueen asutus- ja henkilöhistoriaa. DNA-sukututkimus tuo lisätietoa siitä, mistä alueen suvut ovat alun perin alueelle tulleet ja mitkä nykyisin alueella elävät suvut ovat keskenään ns. alueellisia sukulaissukuja ja miten. Projekti on tarkoitettu pääasiassa Etelä-Pohjanmaalla sukujuuria omaaville henkilöille, jotka ovat tehneet DNA-testin. (Myös sekalinjaiset eteläpohjalaiset ovat tervetulleita projektiin!) Pidemmän tähtäyksen tavoitteemme on löytää Etelä-Pohjanmaalle tyypilliset geneettiset sukulinjat, välittää niistä tietoa kaikille kiinnostuneille ja auttaa eteläpohjalaisjuurisia eteenpäin tutkimaan omaa sukugeneettistä taustaansa. Projekti on perustettu vuonna 2024. The South Ostrobothnia DNA project is a geographical DNA project. The project focuses on the genetic paternal and maternal lines of South Ostrobothnia and its neighbouring areas. The South Ostrobothnia DNA project uses DNA test results and traditional genealogy to study the settlement and personal history of the area. DNA genealogy provides more information on where the families in the area originally came from and which families living in the area today are so-called "genealogy" regional relatives and how. The project is mainly intended for people with family roots in South Ostrobothnia who have taken a DNA test. (Mixed South Ostrobothnians are also welcome to join the project!) Our long-term goal is to find the genetic lineages typical of South Ostrobothnia, convey information about them to all interested parties and help people with South Ostrobothnian roots to further study their own genealogical background. The project was established in 2024.
