About us
We are on the verge of posting on our website a new and we think much improved group structure for Ewing Project results. If you would like to read about this now, please go to

DYG399X is giving some interesting results. We recommend this test only for Ewing men who have already been tested and have been found to be in Ewing Group 1, 3, 4, 5 or 7 (or in the new, soon-to-be-released group structure I spoke about in the paragraph above, Groups 1 & 2). This test is unlikely to be helpful for men in Ewing Group 2, 6, 8 or 9 (new Groups 3, 4 & 5). To read about the rationale and our results so far, go to:

Several project participants have ordered the SNP haplotype confirmation test, the "YHAP," recently. Our opinion is this is not necessary or helpful unless a participant gets equivocal results on the regular Y-DNA test--save your money and spend it instead to get specialized testing tailored to your specific situation. Participants in Ewing Group 8 (new Group 4) might find "deep clade SNP testing" interesting, but we think the cheaper, single marker "YHAP" is pretty much useless for our purposes.
We are beginning to get some British participants, which is quite exciting. Already, two American cousins have established a connection with a distant cousin in Scotland whose ancestors did not immigrate. We expect to find a lot more of this kind of provocative result.
