About us

So often in British India family history research we hit upon a brick wall and suspect it may be due to an ancestor being Indian. More often than not this is hard to prove due to lack of documentary evidence and it is the hope of the Families in British India Society that this DNA project might help in these situations. Hopefully it will also connect a few project members with possible cousins and help you understand your ancestry a little more.
To make this project possible the Families in British India Society decided to partner with the Family Tree DNA testing service to provide reduced pricing for our members and to encourage this form of research. Participants who sign up through FIBIS to FTDNA can also have their results joined to the appropriate Surname Project and to the appropriate Y-DNA or mtDNA haplogroup projects.
