The FORBES Project primary goals include establishing or researching the different ancestral lines found among FORBES families worldwide, tracing currently known and unknown FORBES lineages to common ancestors throughout the world, and assisting genealogy researchers in identifying and validating their immigrant FORBES ancestors through the various DNA tests. Secondary goals are to collaborate with other related DNA Projects and to investigate genetic connections to clan septs such as Bannerman, Berrie, Berry, Boyce, Boyes, Lumsden, Macouat, Macowatt, MacQuattie, MacWatt, Mechie, Mekie, Meldrum, Michie, Middleton, Walter, Walters, Watson, Watt, Watters, Wattie, and Watts.
