As volunteer Administrators and Co-administrators of the Hanover County, Virginia Project, we give priority to protecting your privacy and to the confidentiality of your personal data. In particular we will not publish your name, e-mail address or other contact details, or share this information with any other project member, person, or organization without your specific written approval.
The only personal data we maintain is that which is relevant to meeting the published goals of our Project, and which has been made available to us as a result of your voluntary participation in this project or which you have directly given us by e-mail or by post.
All personal information is automatically deleted from the project upon withdrawal from the project except for information posted by you in the public forum section of the project or which you personally sent directly to a project administrator by email.
The administrators of this project are not responsible for the accuracy of your personal information as it is based entirely upon the data which you submitted to FTDNA when creating your own profile. You can edit this information on your personal page at FTDNA.
In our administration of this project we endeavor to comply with the most recent guidance issued by ISOGG (https://isogg.org/wiki/ISOGG_Project_Administrator_Guidelines) and by FTDNA (www.familytreedna.com/learn/projectadministration/gap-guidelines-ftdna-projects/), and with the Genetic Genealogy Standards (www.geneticgenealogystandards.com/).
We endeavor to respond promptly to any queries or complaints you may make about our handling of your personal data for this Project. However, you should be aware that some of your concerns may be better forwarded direct to the relevant DNA testing company.
The Project Administrators and Co-Administrators have no financial or contractual relationship with Family Tree DNA or any other testing company. This Geographical Project is not the recipient or steward of any actual DNA samples and has no responsibility for their care, handling, or return to the participant.
Participation in the Hanover County, Virginia DNA Project is welcome but strictly voluntary.
