The Hartwell Y-DNA Surname Study Project seeks to discover and record the Y-DNA signatures of the Hartwell surname. Males with the Hartwell surname who have taken a Y-DNA test are encouraged to join. We are especially interested in those who have documented their Hartwell lineage and who have taken Big Y-700 tests. We also would like to recruit more Hartwells living in England, in hopes that their results might provide additional clues to their connection with the US immigrant ancestor William Hartwell (1613-1689), supposedly of Bedfordshire, England.
