About us
Project Goals
The first immediate goals were to:
1. improve on the Frontier Hendricks data from research by Dr. John Scott Davenport,
2. determine the ancestors and lineage of Thomas A. Hendricks and Abraham Hendricks. DNA results from two members of the Westmoreland County, PA Hendricks family demonstrates that Thomas A. and Abraham Hendricks are from the Daniel Hendrick of Haverhill, MA family,
3. determine ancestors and lineage of Moses Hendricks m Susanna of SC,
4. determine the ancestors of Hans Hendrick of the Pamunkey (Virginia) Hendrick,
5. determine the ancestors and lineage of the Albemarle (North Carolina) Hendricks. DNA results have concluded that the Albemarle Hendricks families are in fact two different groups of Hendricks in the Eastern Part of NC. One is associated with Daniel Hendrick of MA and the other we continue to call Albemarle Hendricks (the Francis Hendrickson) line searched by Davenport for John Henry Hendrix of Midland, TX. The DNA from a descendant of William Hendrick, of Wallingford, CT, shows a close family association. Henry families from North Carolina have also been associated with the family.
6. Sort out the SC Hendricks lines – at least 17 before 1800 in SC, of which 9 have been demonstrated via DNA testing,
7. Determine the ancestors and lineage of the NJ Henry Hendricks b 1730 Family,
8. Help sort out all the other Hendrix/Hendrick/Hendricks/Hendricks/Hendryx inter-relations by DNA testing and family research profiling.
9. Try to infiltrate some of the NY, CT, MA, and New England Hendrick/s into the DNA testing.
How to join the Hendricks DNA Project if you have already tested at FTDNA?
1. You can first login normally to your personal FTDNA account.
2. Click the "Join Projects" button found just below “My Project Groups”
3. In the search box "Search by Surname" write "Hendricks" and click "Search".
4. In the search results click "Hendricks"
We will require information on your association to the Hendrick/Hendricks/Hendrix (or other variants) families by providing a copy of your lineage. If, in the list of Y-DNA Matches in your personal account indicates that you are a close match to various Hendricks DNA results, we will review your results against the Hendricks DNA Project Participants.
