About us
We now have five separate family branches involved in the project and based on the results we have been able to estimate the probable first 12 markers of the original Hoppchirk, the person from whom we have all descended. This person was probably born sometime in the 1200 or 1300’s.
All five families seem to have one mutation during the last 500 or 600 years.
Preliminary results shows the Hopekirk family mutated on marker #1, the Glasgow Hopkirks mutated on marker #6, the Melrose and Jedburgh(Largs) Hopkirks mutated down one to a 29 on #12 and the Hobkirks of Southdean mutated up one to a 31 on marker #12.
