About us
Richard Hubball of the New Haven Colony, now Connecticut, was born in Bewdley, Worcestershire, England. Arriving in the early 1640s he lived to have three wives and 15 children before his death in 1699. He is known to have descendants in all 50 US states and Canada in addition to several other countries.
The Hubbell genealogies include several Native American descendants in northern New Mexico and Arizona. As in many families there are still a number of unproven lines described in family stories. They are difficult to place in the Hubbell family without documentation so this study seeks to tie in those lines whose descendants believe they are Richard's descendants, and further substantiate the paper trail.
As Richard was the only Hubbell or Hubball known to permanently immigrate to America at that time, virtually all early Hubbells of any spelling in North America may be his descendants.
One goal of this project is to prove each line back to the immigrant.
A parallel goal is to examine the connection between Richard's descendants and current day UK Hubbles of several spellings, as well as those in other countries whose line emerged in England, and trace the family farther back together with Richard's ancestors.
Although the study is presently small, the results are promising and participants include four who are UK descendants.
The family in America is a small one overall, so it is doubly important to have as many participants as possible, both here and abroad. All participants are encouraged to help locate other Hubbell cousins to participate and add to the findings.
