About us

A Family Finder (autosomal-DNA) and Y-DNA Project for descendants of James DAVIS (1744-1822) & Hannah RAMSEY (1751-1830) of Wythe Co., VA, Christian Co., KY [now Montgomery Co., TN], and Randolph Co., MO — and any other genetically matching families, such as, the descendants of John DAVIS of Gloucester, 1623 immigrant to Virginia. Also included are descendants of Rev. Thomas THOMPSON (1797-1872) who married their granddaughter, Delilah DAVIS (1768-1839), d/o Isaac DAVIS (c1764-1834) & Sarah "Sally" CLARK (1768-1832), d/o Col. Henry CLARK (1732-1823) & Sarah "Sally" JONES (1737-1828) of NJ, SC, TN, and Christian Co., KY. Many descendants migrated westwards to Missouri, then Northern California.

For the convenience of my BROWN family members (on my mother's side of the family), I include our matching New England BROWNS in the Results table. They are not related to the above DAVIS, THOMPSON, etc. (on my father's side of the family).

This project was formerly called the Isaac DAVIS - Thomas THOMPSON project, but we have now identified the father of Isaac as James DAVIS. While I can and have changed the title of the project, I cannot change the URL, so it remains the same.
