About us

Project Description: The Jesuit Enslaved DNA Project seeks to explore and explain the genealogical connections among the descendants of the people enslaved by the Jesuits, build and extend descendants' pedigrees, confirm known ancestors, identify new ancestors, resolve genealogical research questions, and preserve the genetic heritage of the enslaved ancestors. We use all four types of human DNA to trace the families. The project here is a companion site for The Jesuit Enslaved Descendants DNA Project hosted on GEDmatch. We welcome and encourage known and suspected descendants of families enslaved by the Society of Jesus in U. S. locations including but not limited to Alabama, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Grand Coteau - Louisiana, and Pennsylvania to join both sites to fuel the recovery of our collective past.
