Our immediate goal is to reach 79 members who have tested for 111 markers with their Y-DNA tests.  This is the "magic number" which allows the algorithm that we use to produce reliable results.  We are now at 58 Y-DNA Cousins who have tested at the 111-markers level.

Our long range goal is to be able to define accurately the many branches of our ancient Clan Johnstoun Chiefs and to name them.  Currently, we believe that we have identified the Johnston of Newbie branch and the Johnston of Poldean branch.  We are on the verge of possibly identifying the Johnston of Caskieben branch.  Sir Adam Johnstoun was said to have had 4 brothers, and we have a group that is slowly filling out and dividing into these branches.
