About us
The Objective is to track both Male (Y) and Female (mtDNA) with Kashubian ethnic origins. Kashubians are a west Slavic tribe from the Pomeranian region with their own culture and language locating in the Baltic region of Poland between Oder and Vistula Rivers. Kashubians are a known minority group in Poland making up about 10% of the population. During the late 1800’s, a large emigration occurred from this region to Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota, USA. People with direct ancestors, male or female, originating from the Kashubian area of Poland and the surrounding area including Gdansk or with known Kashubian backgrounds are encouraged to join this group. Much commingling with Polish and German ancestry has occurred.
