Welcome to the Key surname Y-Chromosome DNA test project. This project has been started to see if DNA mapping of the KEY males combined with traditional genealogy methods could assist in breaking through those brick walls, and at the same time connect the various lines or prove they do not connect. Additionally, many of us with the KEY surname have been told we are related to Francis Scott Key. Perhaps this project can put that question to rest one way or another. This project is open to all males with the surname KEY or its variations: KEYE, KEYES, KEE, Kay and Kaye. We have chosen Family Tree DNA of Houston Texas to perform the DNA testing. They specialize in DNA mapping for genealogical purposes, are well respected in their field, provide outstanding data confidentiallity and have extensive experience. The sucess of this project depends on the number of participants who join the group as well as the documentation of the research connected with each line.
