This project started in late 2007, when several Kilby researchers decided to employ science in order to prove whether various Kilby families have any genetic connection.

By early 2008, five test results were posted, representing three different groupings. These groups showed that the Kilby surname was used by unrelated families at different times in history.

More tests are needed distinguish the origins of each Haplogroup.
