The Krise Surname DNA Project has been established to create a databank of Y-DNA profiles of families with variations on the surname Krise. The primary purpose is to provide a basis for documenting and distinguishing different family lines which share a common surname. The Krise surname derives from different European family names, representing different ethnic groups, as well. Surnames known to be related to the American surname Krise include Greiß, Greiss, Grass, Grice, Grise, Kraiss, Kreis, Kries, Kriss, Kress, and Crise. Some longer surnames are also known to have been shortened to Krise. This project can assist family historians in confirming or refuting possible lines of descent, but its success depends on accumulating a sufficiently large databank.
