The name Lawrence, 200th most popular name in the U.S., has long been utilized in one form or another throughout Europe through the ages. Further complicating things was the adoption of the name by many Eastern European immigrants to the U.S. in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries upon their entry into the U.S. Each participant is attempting to prove their European links, as well as trying to make connections with lost family members here in the U.S. We're interested in attracting non-U.S. Lawrence and Lorenz participants, and Family Tree DNA has made it possible for them to join as easily as those in the U.S. as witness several of our newest participants who are Europeans. We'd like to establish a database so comprehensive that dozens or even hundreds of Lawrence lines can add new information and kinships.
