The MacLennans established their stronghold in Kintail, Wester Ross, in the Scottish Highlands in the 13th century. The present Chief is Ruairidh Donald George MacLennan of MacLennan. The purpose of the MacLennan DNA Project is to identify how MacLennans around the world are connected and the origins of the Clan. The project aims to assist MacLennans and other historically related groups to find linkage and genetic cousins, including determining family locations and movement.
