Goal 1: to have male McAlpin members of the different identified McAlpin lineages tested to determine the DNA passed down generation to generation thru the male descendants and by comparing the results to determine which of those lineages have a common ancestry and to better describe their origin. We are interested in all spellings- McAlpin, McAlpine, McCalpin, McKalpin, McCoppin, etc. 

Goal 2: to provide a point of reference for those conducting genealogical research on their McAlpin, McAlpine, etc. ancestry through their maternal ancestors (through mtDNA analysis) as well.
