The "Walk the Y" project for Haplogroup "I" continues to yield great results. Many new SNPs have been identified through this project and some of our project participants were engaged in supporting the identification of the new SNP L369+, which appears to have been on the British Isles for more than 5,000 years and is believed to be indigenous to Scotland. http://www.familytreedna.com/public/M223-Y-Clan/default.aspx

If you are not already a member, please consider joining the British Isles DNA Project, a geographical project that are more concerned with the overall genetic makeup of a particular geographical region. Because it takes large numbers to build a statisically meaningful assembly of DNA profiles, these projects require time to mature. Given a continuity of membership of a longer span of time, this project should become a useful resource for population geneticists studying the settlement history of the British Isles, as well as an effective tool to help family historians trace their genetic cousins (those with similar haplotype) within the region covered by the project.
