Welcome to the McMahon Project! This Project is dedicated to tracking male inheritance (only) by analysing Y-DNA profiles of members and placing them where possible into their haplogroups. The aim is to establish McMahon (and associated names) lines of descent in Ireland which will enable individuals descended from these lines to know their probable sept and county of origin. In addition to the major McMahon septs of Oriel and Thomond, smaller septs of McMahon, Mahon and all variations of Mac Mahon, Mac Mathghamhna, and Mac Mathuna including but not limited to: McArdle, McCaghey, McToal, McRorey, McHugh, McKeown, McPhillips, Mathews, Ennis, and Connolly were also analysed.
