About us

The immediate goal for this project is to place all project members into their YDNA Haplogroups - I confess to taking little notice of paper genealogies UNLESS a tester is specifically chasing a particular ancestor and has done the research to prove same. This will show the various surnames of all who join the project and have been matched according to the YDNA Haplogroup STR matches.
SNP results will be taken into account when there is debate as to the match or when a reasonable patrilineal group at Y111 is assembled. It is preferred that testers, if they can afford same, select the Big Y as opposed to testing a SNP pack at a time as the Big Y will be more helpful in the long run (as well as more economical).
Although the mitochondrial chart is operational, surnames cannot be relied upon - yes, it has a great deal to do with testers using their birth name or even a pseudonym. Therefore it is compiled into ONLY the mtDNA Haplogroup.
