This purpose of this project is to determine an "ancestral" DNA haplotype for the Nankivell Group . The Nankivell surname first appears in the St. Columb Major - St. Mawgan-in-Pydar area of Cornwall, England in the 1400s. This project allows men to verify whether or not they descend from John Typpett-Nanskevel. The Nankivell Group have two STR’s that are unique to us, DYS481 at 20 allele and DYS492 at 11 allele. If your STR test results show different values for DYS481 and DYS 492 then unfortunately you do not come from the same lineage as the other members. Family Tree is a 'DNA Genealogy' site not a 'Surname Genealogy’ site so a saliva swab test kit has to be submitted to FamilyTree for DNA testing. Normally you would start with the Y-DNA STR test to 67 or 111 markers. Your results are then, with your permission, included into the Nankivell Group STR Chart. This information helps us to clarify your DNA lineage and determine wether you belong to the Nankivell Group. From there we have members who can assist on identifying your Surname Genealogical Lineage and even help you discover family members.
