Normanite Ancestral Information and Summary of

Matching Results within Normanites DNA Project

FamilyFinder match kit numbers that are highlighted represent matches with Normanites DNA Project participants other than immediate family members:  Blue, member from New Zealand; Red, member from Canada; Yellow, member from USA; Green, member from other than New Zealand, Canada, or USA.  Ancestral names are shown following the kit number.

Immediate family members are not shown in the comparison grids.  Overlapping segments (highlighted in color) suggest a possible common genealogical connection for those with overlapping segments.

: Son of John Angus MacLeod born North Sydney Oct. 15, 1900 d 1971 and Lottie Irene (Patterson) born Middleton, N.S. July 16, 1899 d. Halifax, N.S. July 1993.  John Angus was the son of John "Cricket" McLeod born Boularderie Ctr. 1856 d. 1924 and Isobella McKenzie1859-1937, born Black Brook, Boularderie Island, N.S. Both buried Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney, NS.  John was the son of Angus McLeodb.c. 1818 Achnacarnin, Assynt, Sutherlandshire, Scotland d.1863 at sea Newfoundland and Annabella McKenzie1810-1892, born Scotland, both buried Man O War Point Cemetery, Boularderie, NS.  Angus was the son of Murdoch & Effie (McNicoll) McLeod married at Achnacarnin, Assynt Scotland 1801. It might be that his father was either Duncan or John McLeod, Tacksmen in Assynt, (most likely John as Duncan does not show up in our family given names) noted in a survey of Assynt in the mid-1700s.  Angus, Effie and family emigrated to Nova Scotia 1820.

Great uncle George McLeod, his wife Ann McGregor, son George McLeod, and Ann’s entire family went with the Rev. Norman McLeod, first to Australia, then to New Zealand.
