The goals of the project are:
- to recruit O'Deas to provide DNA samples for Y-DNA analysis;
- to assist those with the surname to identify common ancestors using Y-DNA;
- to establish how many independent origins of the surname exist; and
- to assist all those with the surname in their ancestry to identify common ancestors using autosomal DNA.
