We now have one member of our Pincombe Surname DNA study. His descent is back to the Pincombe family located at Bideford, Devon, England with the likely furtherest back ancestor being Steven Pencombe (b 1595). I have not yet been able to connect the two Pincombe families of Bideford and my own at South Molton/North Molton/Bishops Nympton. Comparing this result with one that is on y-Search shows three differences at 25 markers between them. The three differences are in the fast moving markers (red label) so I tend to think of them as 1/2 value instead of whole making a match of 23.5/25. The first 12 markers are fairly common to a number of surnames so it is necessary to go to at least 37 markers in order to see any matches with this family line. The Pincombe family member on Ysearch XSEN6 (Y-search for Pincombe). The Pincombe results on Ysearch would be those of my 5th cousin (once removed possibly or a sixth cousin) when I compare the stated ancestor to my own. His furtherest back ancestor is the son of my 3x great grandfather's brother.
