PSHG GOALS: 

The present Goal of the PSHG is to continue to locate cousins of the three sons of Peter Staple, Peter Jr., John and James and cousins in England that will help identify the location of his ancestral home.

To meet this goal the members of the PSHG has identified the Y-DNA SNP Haplogroup lineage from ancient pre-history times to the surname era for Peter Staple and his three sons down to the PSHG SNP's that, so far, only members match.

PRIVACY: 

As Administrator and Co-administrator of the Peter Staple Heritage Group (PSHG) Project we give priority to protecting your privacy and to the confidentiality of your personal data. In particular we will not publish your name, e-mail address or other contact details, or share this information with any other project member or other person or organization without your specific written approval.

The only personal data we hold is that relevant to meeting the published goals of our Project, and which has been made available to us by DNA testing companies, in the same format as they make it available to you, or which you have given us direct by e-mail or by post.

We hold this data indefinitely or until you request its deletion, and publish anonymized data at least once a year on our FTNDA Project website (https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/pshp/dna-results) where you may see its current status. You may also request a more updated version direct from the Project Administrator.

We will be pleased to correct any errors in your personaldata that you bring to our attention.

At your request at any time we will promptly remove your data from our project files. However, we cannot retrieve data that has previously been posted in the public domain.  Public Domain includes the PSHG Genetic Study and PSHG Technical Data Book which are given to Members.  When you join the PSHG, or any similar group, project or study, you have granted permission to place your name, ID number, lineage and DNA data into the public domain.

Progress in this genealogical field of genetic research depends entirely on the voluntary sharing of our Y-DNA STR and SNP test results for comparison with other cousins and non-cousins genetic data that has been placed within the Public Domain. This information can never be retrieved or cancelled and is subject to use by others who may wish to present it differently elsewhere.

In our administration of this project we endeavor to comply with the most recent guidance issued by ISOGG (https://isogg.org/wiki/ISOGG_Project_Administrator_Guidelines) and by FTDNA (www.familytreedna.com/learn/projectadministration/gap-guidelines-ftdna-projects/), and with the Genetic Genealogy Standards (www.geneticgenealogystandards.com/).

We endeavor to respond promptly to any queries or complaints you may make about our handling of your personal data for this Project.  However, you should be aware that some of your concerns may be better forwarded direct to the relevant DNA testing company.

PSHG Associate Membership is given to individuals that are not descendants of Peter Staple (c1642-1719) but have provided their genetic information that resulted insubstantially furthering the group's genetic study.

Genetic testing for the PSHG is performed at FTDNA (Family Tree DNA) and at YSEQ (YSEQ DNA Origins). FTDNA tests used by the group for this study are the Y-STR 111 marker and the Y-SNP BigY. YSEQ tests used by the group for this study are the Y-SNP R1b-U106 Panel and various single Y-SNP tests.

The PSHG uses two DNA methods to validate our family heritage.
(1) Anthrogenealogy, using Y-SNP's to identify the haplogroups of our genetic family tree from beyond the limits of historical and genealogical records into the present.

(2) Genetic Genealogy, using Y-STR's to compare haplotypes and identify genetic branches of our family tree within the limits of historical and genealogical records.  

FTDNA allows its affiliates to use project names such as the"STAPLES-PSHG" on their websites. Some of these websites promise membership to the PSHG when DNA testing with them. Please note that the PSHG is not an affiliate of FTDNA and does not accept individuals because they are from a FTDNA affiliate. As stated above membership is based on a case by case basis.
