About us

15 December 2021. there are not many changes, though we have managed to get some new Hyde members whose results confirm that almost all Hydes are within the FT199729 branch and are descended from Humphrey or Jonathan. We have a chart of all the surnames here

Here is a chart of the Highfield/Hyde etc lines

18 March 2021
. With four new Big Ys in, we now have the following rough timing for the cluster (approx SNPs, split with distinguishing SNPs, approx date)

22Polish split (FT178522/FGC17294)                                           130AD
14 Jackson line (FGC17309)                                                            800AD
11 Ashmore  line  (FGC17310, BY60604)                                     1000AD
  9  Ashmore/Coker split                                                                 1200AD
  8 Hyde/Blood split (FT85184, FT200000, FT198830)              1300AD
   6 Blood Nottingham/Derby (FT124365, FT85084)                 1450 AD

29 Dec 2020. We now have 23 members including a new surname Meakin from Derbyshire. As well as the eight existing Big Y, 9 more are on order, which will straighten out HYDE and most of the cluster.

30 Nov 2020. End of first week - a very positive time all around. We already have representatives of all the major surnames HYDE/HIGHFIELD, BLOOD, ASHMORE, COKER, WILLETT, REDDICK, DAVIS. Two admins of surname projects have joined as observers. Two BigY of previously untested surname lines have been ordered. Several project admins have joined as observers. There are 15 members. And - a classic example of many heads working together - indicative evidence has been found that COKER, a Virginian surname, is not originally COAKER of Somerset, or COCKER, but CORKER of the Midlands!

26 Nov 2020. In the middle of a second wave of COVID-19, our project begins with eight core Big Y members.
