About us
The Reynolds Surname Y DNA Project was created to facilitate and co-ordinate Y DNA testing for males bearing the Reynolds surname in order to enhance Reynolds genealogical research. Non-Reynolds surnamed men that have Y DNA signatures closely associated with Reynolds men are also encouraged to join the Project. Analysis of these genetic relationships will enrich our understanding of our historical connections.
A Y-DNA TEST IS REQUIRED to join this Project!!!! If you have an autosomal DNA kit you might be interested in the Reynolds Project on GEDmatch's "Ancestors Projects".
IN ORDER TO JOIN THE REYNOLDS PROJECT, MEMBERS MUST COMPLETE A Y DNA TEST WITH FAMILY TREE DNA. Since only males have Y DNA, females researching their Reynolds line can join the project by administering a test kit for a MALE Reynolds-surnamed family member, such as their father, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, etc. A 37-marker STR test is recommended as the minimum test to begin participation in the Project. Higher marker tests (67 or 111 markers and SNP markers) will allow administrators to group participants with higher confidence.
