Nestled in the subcarpathian mountains, the shtetl of Kolomea was home to several Schmerzler families. There were Schmerler's who lived in surrounding communities as well. Are they all related? What was their path of migration? What are their stories? If you have a Schmerzler / Schmerler family in your lineage we would love to have you join this project. Perhaps we can answer these questions, as well as the questions that will undoubtedly arise as we collaborate and expand our research. Our initial results are for descendants of the Chaskel Schmerzler and Rozje Rauchwerger family of Kolomea / Kolomyya, Ukraine. Associated families are also welcome here!
