About us

Project Blog

It was originally established by John Hansen in October 2001 as the Scottish Clans DNA Project. John has been assisted by an enthusiastic team of volunteers: Lauren Boyd who is administrator of the RootsWeb SCOT-DNA mailing list, Charlotte Broun responsible for the My Family website and Marsha Smith who adeptly managed input of results into the Scottish Clans Master Database.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of them for their hard work and effort over the years on behalf of Scottish DNA studies. John and Marsha are now planning a hard earned rest, while Lauren and Charlotte are continuing in their respective roles.

The Scottish DNA Project was split into Y-DNA and mtDNA in the Spring of 2016.
