This group is dedicated to the Sons and Daughters of the United States Middle Passage. The Middle Passage refers to the sea journey of slave ships from Africa to the Americas. The purpose of this DNA group is to connect members, their families, and prospective SDUSMP members actively pursing the application process. SDUSMP members may submit mitochondrial DNA, autosomal DNA, or Y-DNA to this project. Established in 2011, the National Society Sons and Daughters of the US Middle Passage is the first lineage society in the world to honor enslaved ancestors. Any person 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from an enslaved ancestor is eligible for membership.
